ProForm Performance 800i Treadmill

ProForm Performance 800i Review

Last Updated: March 29, 2021

The ProForm Performance 800i is the most advanced Performance series model out of the three currently available in the UK, as of 2021. While it may not be the best treadmill out there, it does have a solid set of features that make it a good option for home use. If you wish to go for a mid-range piece of equipment that offers a sizable display and is capable of light to moderate workouts, this could be the one for you.

Here is a breakdown of its specs and features to help you decide:

  • 14-inch Full-colour Touchscreen

The 800i has the best display among the Performance series treadmills. At 14 inches, it enables you to comfortably view your workout stats and enjoy iFit features. Compared to the 10-inch screen on the 600i and the backlit display on the 375i, this is a welcome improvement.

  • 2.75 CHP Motor

As far as quietness is concerned, the self-cooling motor lets you work out in peace. However, the Performance series treadmills have failed to impress in terms of motor power. Even though the motor on the 800i is an upgrade from the 2.5 CHP on the 600i, there’s still room for improvement. At this price point, there are other treadmills that offer more motor power.

While 2.75 CHP is generally considered good enough for home use, frequent heavyweight users or extended high-speed running could compromise motor life. If you’re a serious runner, this one isn’t for you!

  • iFit-Ready with Free 1-year Membership

Like most other ProForm treadmills, the 800i has a year-long iFit membership included complementary with its purchase. iFit Coach is a popular workout app that offers thousands of diverse workout videos, fitness challenges, live training under world-class professionals, and virtual running locations that you can choose to explore on the map. It also offers stat tracking for your activity, nutrition, and sleep. We especially appreciate how the 14-inch screen adds beauty to the virtual running feature for a more immersive experience.

  • 0-20 km/h Speed and -2–10% Incline

The max speed on this treadmill is good enough for the occasional calorie-torching sprint. However, we recommend against frequent heavy running on the machine due to the risk of early motor breakdown.

The incline capability on the 800i is pretty similar to its siblings, except for the 2% decline feature which isn’t present on the others. An angled running deck can multiply calorie burn, lessen painful impact forces on your knees, and train your lower body muscles simultaneously.

  • Roomy Tread Belt with ProShox Cushioning

While we liked the belt size on the 600i, this one is 5 inches longer, at 46 x 152 cm. This allows more comfort and safety for tall runners. The ProShox Cushioning feature is best if you want a shock-absorbing running deck for joint protection as you work out.

  • Convenient Foldable Design

The signature folding feature of the Performance series treadmills is present on this one too. After you’re done working out, EasyLift™ Assist technology helps you fold up the running deck with an easy push.

  • Heart Rate Monitoring

The 800i features dual EKG pulse grips to monitor your heart rate. It’s also compatible with BLE chest straps used for the same purpose.

  • Other Features

Other features worth mentioning include sturdy construction, mp3 compatibility, an adjustable tablet holder, and an integrated workout fan.

  • Engaging 14-inch touchscreen
  • iFit-ready with a free 1-year single membership
  • 2.75 CHP motor
  • 20 km/h speed limit
  • 2% decline to 10% incline
  • Long running belt
  • ProShox cushioning for shock absorption
  • Convenient folding feature
  • EKG heart rate monitoring
  • BLE chest strap compatibility
  • MP3 compatibility
  • Integrated tablet holder
  • Built-in workout fan

  • The 2.75 CHP motor isn’t meant for serious runners or heavy use

Warranty Summary

The Performance 800i comes with:

  • Lifetime frame warranty
  • 5-year motor warranty
  • 2-year parts and labour warranty

Bottom Line

The ProForm Performance 800i is overall a good treadmill for casual use. The primary issue you could face is a lack of motor power to support regular, high-intensity workouts. It has reasonable upgrades compared to other models from the Performance series, although at a higher price point.
