ProForm 505 CST Treadmill Review
The ProForm 505 CST is one of two CST series compact home treadmills currently available in the UK. A tad more advanced than the 205 CST but still offering great value, it’s best used for jogging and walking while enjoying iFit features on your device. Anyone who wants a durable piece of equipment to support moderate-intensity workouts at home will be able to make the most of the 505 CST.
Here’s everything you should know before you go on and purchase this treadmill:
ProForm 505 CST Features:
5” Console LCD
Like its sibling, the 505 CST has a simple backlit LCD over its console to display your workout stats like time, distance, speed, incline, calories, and heart rate. While it’s simpler than the fancy touchscreens that advanced treadmills offer, the tablet holder ledge makes up for the lack of entertainment options. You’re free to place your own device and stay engaged while you work out.
2.5 CHP Motor
We wouldn’t recommend the 205 CST for anyone but those who solely need a treadmill for walking, but thankfully, that isn’t the case with the 505 CST. While it’s still not made for full-fledged marathon training, the 2.5 CHP motor makes it a decent option for jogging at home.
Free 1-Year iFit Bluetooth Access + Preset Workouts
The free iFit access is not unique to ProForm’s CST series. In fact, more advanced treadmills come with iFit-ready console screens to start using the app right there. With the CST series, you get iFit Bluetooth compatibility, free for the first year but requiring a subscription later. This allows you to log in to the app on your own device and sync it to the treadmill via Bluetooth.
We love everything that this fitness app offers and would definitely recommend it to anyone who gets bored while using a treadmill. Enjoy thousands of workout videos, challenges and marathons, live personal trainers, and virtual running locations that allow you to explore popular places worldwide.
If you’re not in the mood for iFit or don’t have a functional device to use the app, the 18 preset programs built into the treadmill provide plenty of variety.
16 km/h Speed Limit and 10% Max Incline
While this treadmill is far from the best for speeding up, it can handle light running as long as you’re not on the heavier end of the weight spectrum. 16 km/h is more than enough for a jogging treadmill, and the 10% incline limit enables further workout variety and multiplies calorie burn. These specs are the same as the 205 CST, except you’ll be able to reach higher speeds without worrying about the motor on this one.
46 x 140 cm Tread Belt with ReBound Pro™ Cushioning
The tread belt is a bit wider and longer in the 505 CST compared to its former counterpart. This is also a favorable feature for speeding up; while a shorter belt is generally enough for walking, jogging requires longer strides. Tall people will especially benefit from the additional belt length since they don’t have to worry about falling off the deck during use!
The ReBound Pro™ cushioning technology is an adjustable shock-absorbing feature that provides a padded feel to the deck at its softest setting. It works well in preventing joint pain and discomfort by alleviating the stressful impact that develops each time your feet strike the deck.
SpaceSaver® Design with EasyLift Assist
As you would expect from a home treadmill by a top brand like ProForm, the 505 CST doesn’t disappoint with regard to compact storage. The space-saving folding feature makes it perfect for use when you don’t have enough room to accommodate a full-sized treadmill 24/7. Simply fold up the running deck vertically with an easy push once you’re done for the day. The EasyLift technology is built in to bear most of the deck’s weight as it folds up.
Hand Pulse Grips and Bluetooth Receiver
You get dual heart rate monitoring options here, but a Bluetooth chest belt isn’t part of the package. There is, however, a wireless receiver so you can pair your own chest belt. As always, pulse sensors are present in the handlebars to display a heart rate reading over the console within a few seconds of holding them.
The 505 CST doesn’t disappoint in terms of convenience, comfort, and entertainment. The CoolAire fan with two speed settings is a great addition to this model. Moreover, dual 2” speakers, iPod/mp3 compatibility, and a tablet holder take care of your entertainment needs. The accessory tray further helps keep your belongings handy, while the included transport wheels make moving the treadmill easier from room to room.
